EU TRANSLATED - Towards Better Quality Legal Translations for Better Implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement

Quality legal translations are the basis of the professional approximation of the Ukrainian legislation to that of the EU and, consequently, the key to reforming the country within the framework of the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. The EU funded Project Association4U together with the European Commission Directorate General for Translation and the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration will hold on January 16-17, 2019 in Kyiv the first profile conference on translation issues in order to ensure a quality legislative approximation.

We invite specialists in the matter to engage in a constructive dialogue between the leading Ukrainian and foreign speakers, share their experience, establish new professional contacts.

The topics will be centered on:

- institutional and organizational support;

- technologies and tools, competencies and qualifications;

- terminological aspects.

For the academia representatives, a round table on the inclusion of legal translation in the study curricula in the context of European integration processes will be held.

The event will be of interest to:

- professional translators, academics, civil servants, representatives of legal translation agencies;

- professors who teach to legal translation students;

- senior students or graduates of legal translation courses;

- journalists interested in highlighting the process of the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and the issues related to it.

The working language of the conference is English.

Participation in the conference is free of charge, but registration is required (number of participants is limited): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Y8YxuNP83G-TijZfJrqWrl_mrTLz5xIjkrEbZtIWUBE/edit
